Saturday afternoon I crossed the bridge to West Memphis, where I had a chore to do: taking down my mom's Christmas tree.

You'd think she would have taken it down my now, wouldn't you? Well, you'd be wrong. I started putting the tree up in junior high, I guess, and now the job is mine by default. In my mother's (and grandmother's) defense neither one of them is spry enough to shimmy up into the attic and pull down the tree and decorations.

Fine. You'd think one of my siblings, though, would get tired of looking at it as January came to an end, right? You'd be wrong. Again. I can't remember when, but within the last couple of years I waited until the end of February to take the damned thing down. That year I thought my mom might just put a sheet over the tree and keep it until the next year. She didn't. She just kept calling me and saying, "Harold, are you going to take the tree down?"

I guess so, mum.

My mom has also gotten weird about her car, a four-door Benz that screams "retiree." Anyway, she cleans it obsessively and doesn't like to drive it for fear that it will get dirty.

In thirty years I will be just like her. That should really disturb me more than it does.

I'm nearly done with Tomb Raider II. Just a few more areas...I'm planning on finishing it up tonight after a quick run. I'll be glad to put the Damned Game behind me.

Except Sonya spent a ridiculous amount of money on something recently. I can't remember if it was the Bruise Pristine double-CD single or something else but the upshot of it is when Tomb Raider Gold for the Mac comes out we're going to march straight to CompUSA and get it.

I'll try and get some stuff done between the two.
