Effluvia

Nope, no links today, either. I will slowly get back into the swing of things, I promise you.

I went to K-Mart today at lunch. It is truly the red-headed stepchild of the big discount stores, isn't it?

Nope. Fred's is. But even Fred's isn't as bad as...

...Dollar General. Dollar General, where they sell desperation at low, low prices!

Siobhanorama!

What's grosser than gross?

Siobhan's latest entry. Yuck.

One Year Ago
I do some things. That week was quite busy, in a fun way. And the Sandy story is a classic.

Halloween Eve

Well, shit.

I wrote an entry. A small, hateful one, true, but an entry nonetheless. Hell, I wrote one last week on the plane back to town, too. I have been on hiatus, taking my fall break, maybe.

I don't actually have that much to say. I made it back to town all right, though. I don't understand ASPs, though. Not at all. They're hard.

Sonya and I went to the Quarter Saturday night to look at the freaky freaks out for Halloween. We were kind of freaky ourselves, but not major-league freaky. We weren't even noticeable against the high level of weirdness.

The Saints won again on Sunday. That's good! Four in a row is not too shabby.

We've been getting noise complaints from the neighbors. Doesn't that suck? AmberAshleyAmberAmyAmberLynn, the chick who lives next door, has complained about the dog. Then the Canadians next to our bedroom yelled through the wall at me this morning when I hit snooze a few times.

So I was driving home this afternoon and I was as close to full-blown despair as ever I come. We have no friends or family nearby, my coworkers seem to dislike me, the neighbors actively hate us, I'm afraid we might be electrocuting the dog... I was down.

But I got home and took the dog for a long walk from the house and up to Prytania and back. We met some people walking their dog, a chihuahua-terrier mix who looked like Roxy's little sister, and the dogs sniffed at each other while I talked to the people.

This made me feel better. I don't know why.

I called in a take-out order to Semolina and went to get it when Sonya came home. I ran, finishing the last few blocks by going like hell, fast as I could. I stopped by the gorcery store for beer and coke. I stood in the beer section of the A & P, bemused, wondering how I ended up at a grocery store in New Orleans, listening to Poison sing I Won't Forget You on my Walkmen as I did a little shopping. Sonya and I talked when I got home and that, combined with the running and the dog-walking, made me feel better. Strange, huh?
