those folk roots

Since I knew that her fiance would be staying late at work because of a major problem in his department, I called Nicole once I got home but no one answered her phone. I tried not to think too much about why that happened. Personally I'd prefer to think that she was either asleep or not home instead of her ignoring my phone call. I could have left a message, but didn't. Leaving one would probably have caused trouble more than anything else. So rather than dwelling on the chances of me ever talking with her again I went to sleep with snow falling outside my window.

Despite the lack of sun kindly provided by the March snow, I did not sleep well.

Wandering through the free music download section of Amazon, I discovered Dar Williams. Despite her having been around for years she was completely new to me and hearing her cover of the David Bowie song Starman was enough to get me hooked on her voice. Soon I was at her site listening to her latest album The Beauty of the Rain while reading her biography and various reviews. How she eluded me for years was a mystery to me. Then I discovered that she will be coming to Milwaukee in April and seriously thought of going to see her.

Yes, that is how I work. I find something new that appeals to me on some creative level and let myself get completely immersed in whatever that might be. Sometimes that interest gets consumed and quickly discarded. Other times I find something so important to me that it stays with me for years. As to where Dar Williams falls on that spectrum has yet to be seen.
