Last night before I went to work, my dad and brother stopped by my place to deliver a television for me. The set had belonged to my parents and since they bought a new one they gave the old to me. It seemed like a good deal to me, because for years I got by watching a simple nineteen inch screen so this new thirty one inch vision is quite the change for me.

I've been at my place for sixteen months and this was the first time that my brother had ever seen it. Since he lives out of state that usually means that we only see one another at family functions held at our parents place. Now I learned that he may be moving even farther away. If he does indeed move, he'll hold the distinction of being the sibling to move the farthest from home.

After putting it aside for a few days, I finally got back to reading Irvine Welsh's book Porno and finished it. As some of the reviews said, it was nice to see the main characters from Trainspotting again, but none of them really moved forward with their lives. Then again I don't think that I really expected them to change that much.

I was surprised to come across a quote from Immanuel Kant in the book.

"Nothing fills me with a more ever increasing awe than the stars above me and the moral law within me. "

The quote was said by Sick Boy of all people and I was impressed.

Jen and I saw a production of Inventing Van Gogh and I think that we both liked it more than we did All My Sons. If anything the overall tone of the play was far more upbeat. Oh, there was some melancholy, but for me the modern characters made more sense to me than the nineteen forties people in All My Sons.
